I'm really enjoying my new (to me) car at the moment, but it just doesn't have the kind of personality my old Panda did. I'm thinking some personalisation might help with that, anyone have any suggestions?
So far I'm thinking stripes, some used Renault Clio RS alloy wheels or maybe even painting the steel wheels white.
If I went with white stripes and steelies, I could colour code the mirror caps (currently unpainted) white too.

Dem paint skillz doe

Impressive aren't they. I'm thinking of going into design.

I like that idea of the white stripes and wheels

Slam it.

I like your ideas too BTW.

the stripes are cool . I'd also paint the inside of the headlights black (how it is in your second photo showing the strips)

It's certainly growing on me more and more.

Can you put smaller wheels on it? I promise you THAT would spice things up.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 11:53 |

That's not a bad idea actually. The lights in silver look absolutely huge, the black subdues them a little.

Stripes, wheels, and black headlights. That would look fantastic.

exactly goes from big-eyed and innocent to something a little more mean.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 11:55 |

The wheels are already absolutely tiny. 165/65/r14.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 11:56 |

smaller, SMALLER I SAY!

Sorry can't hear you over the awesome.

I think I'm definitely going to do the black headlights if they're easy enough to dismantle and paint. Think I'm going to paint the spare wheel white so I can see how it looks on the car, then do the rest if I like it.

Stripes and some old alloys sounds like the way to go to me, much as my love of Rallyes endears me towards the white-painted steelie look. Assuming they'll fit, and you can find a reasonably cheap set near you, I'd go for 172/182 Speedlines:

As for the stripes... I reckon something with a chequered flag pattern towards the back would work pretty well.
EDIT: Oops. I didn't read all the way through your post, and just parroted your own ideas back at you... Subconscious acknowledgement of the bit I didn't pay attention to, or just shockingly similar taste?

Just bake them in the oven for a bit to loosen the glue. There are a lot of good tutorials up on youtube.

That car wouldn't make it within half a mile of my place. Lowered cars are impossible here, my friend has a bone stock Mini Cooper and even that scrapes really badly.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:00 |

That's one I'm definitely going to attempt. Might even just get a set of the black lights from a junked Twingo.

OH, another thing...light up emblem.
something like tht for this effect:
you could do a white on the front and red on the back.

How small you thinking?

I find it interesting that so many people obscure the license plate. Why? No, Really. Think about it before you answer.

Not so much a fan of this one, looks a little cheap to my eye.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:05 |

Groundless paranoia to be honest. There's no logical reason for why I do it, I just sorta do.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:06 |

I know a fairly wide wheel will fit, not sure whether they'll stick out past the arches though. Guna hit up the Renault forums and see if anyone knows what specific sizes will fit.
Plus great minds think alike.

225 45 r13.

I'll check it out.

Google tells me someone has tested that tire size on an older twingo.

225//45/13s? You're mad
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:11 |

Okay, okay—this is gonna sound sorta crazy, but bear with me: flared wheel arches.
Like this:
'Cept on a Twingo. Imagine it.

I agree with the comment on the lights. I would suggest plastidip for any wheel painting. It won't give the exact finish as paint but will allow you to easily change anything you don't like.

I had a crater almost swallow my stock height Focus ST, roads are bad everywhere.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:21 |

It would definitely be cool, I can't go too crazy with this car though.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:24 |

GIVE IT BOX FLARES AND PUT THE ENGINE IN THE BOOT.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:26 |
|
You haven't seen the speed humps here...
It's bigger than it looks in the picture. My Panda used to scrape on it.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:27 |
|
To be honest with it being steelies if I don't like the white I can just take a £1 tin of black paint to them and put the caps back on. That's cheaper than plastidip.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:31 |

THIS IS A SENSIBLE AND ACHIEVABLE IDEA. I'LL DO IT.

YEEEEEES

I can't wait to see what the new Twingo RS looks like.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:50 |

I don't think I'm more excited about any upcoming, to-be-revealed car. I just hope they've taken the most common complaint about the non-RS Mark III Twingo - no rear-end playfulness - to heart. It's RenaultSport, so I have faith, even if I still see the Clio 200 as something of a misstep.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:50 |
|
Yeah don't have those thank god. Just car eating craters.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:52 |
|
We have those too. It's just generally a bad place for driving. It'd take some serious determination and planning to have a slammed car here.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 12:56 |
|
The new Clio RS is a serious mis-step; hugely expensive and has the wrong gearbox. Surely they can't mess up a car with such good fun potential like the Twingo though (small, RWD, rear engine).
![]() 04/13/2015 at 13:13 |
|
How many Twingos have you tamed?
![]() 04/13/2015 at 13:20 |
|
Just don't do the goofy stencils on the side like I see on half the Clios around here. WTF?
Chrome mirror caps and some nicer rims for sure. Not sure about the racing stripe. The other decal to think about would be the Renault Cup Squares that I've seen.
You can always checker the roof:
Nothing quite this big, just smaller squares, but this pattern...
![]() 04/13/2015 at 13:26 |
|
No Twingo is truly tamed, it takes dedication and a lot of time to fully train one. Being the wild beasts that they are.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 13:28 |
|
I did think about checkering the roof, I think I prefer the stripe though. I doubt I'd do any graphics on the sides of the car.

Haha! I love that answer man! You made my afternoon!
![]() 04/13/2015 at 15:32 |

Got a side pic? I'll do a potatoshop of white steelies with white mirrors, if you so wish. This, by the way, is totally what i'd do.
Either that or lower it slightly and put it on O.Z's
![]() 04/13/2015 at 15:53 |
|
Thanks that'd be great. Here's a side pic of a very similar one, don't have any good ones of mine.
I don't think I could lower it even slightly with the speed humps around my place.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 16:20 |
|
I found one anyway:
![]() 04/13/2015 at 16:51 |

Thanks, both looks pretty good. But since I can do the white wheels for somewhere around £10 I think I'll give it a go. Those OZ racing wheels look great but are probably a bit pricey for me since just buying the thing hit my finances hard.
![]() 04/13/2015 at 16:59 |

I just did the O.Z's for fun to see what they looked like. It'd be daft forking out for them just for a bit of personalisation
